This sashiko thread is very difficult to find outside of Japan, and we feel privileged to have the rare opportunity to offer it to you.

The thread is hand-dyed in small batches in the famed Aizenkobo dye shop in Kyoto. The charm of these threads is that they are dyed with plants in small batches, thus the color will vary from batch to batch. While the primary expertise of this dye studio is natural, plant-based dyes, the black and red threads that are dyed with commercial dyes are included because those colors are very difficult to achieve with natural dyes.

The weight of the thread is similar to Daruma Yokota brand, and is thinner than Maito, Hida, Olympus, and Sashi.Co brands. The thread is soft and can easily be doubled. Each thread is 3-ply, so they're extra durable!
